On Thursday 8 May, St Luke’s Charity & Home will once again hold its Annual Golf Classic at the beautiful Monkstown Golf Club to raise vital funds for its dedicated Dementia units and services.
Founded in 1872, St Luke’s Home is Ireland’s first and oldest residential care home. Today, St Luke’s continues to provide the best clinical, physical, social and spiritual care for generations of older people in Cork, including those living with Dementia in its many forms, including Alzheimer’s.
As specialists in Dementia care, St Luke’s also champions the advancement of Dementia education and research and provides specialist Dementia care training to the healthcare sector across Munster.
Sadly, the numbers of people living with Dementia in Ireland (currently >64,000), a condition for which there is currently no cure, is set to more than double to ~150,000 by 2045.
St Luke’s Charity and Home are leading the charge to provide additional Dementia care facilities, beds and resources in the Cork area.
