Recently, the Cork Foundation announced their newest partnership with Fachtna O’ Driscoll Solicitors. Talking about the partnership, CEO of the Cork Foundation Pádraic Vallely had stated that “with Fachtna O Driscoll solicitors lending their expertise and knowledge to many worthy non- profit organisations this is a partnership we can really see making a big difference in Cork”.
Both organisations are now shedding some light on exactly how they hope to help non-profits and charities of Cork. Ultimately, Fachtna O’ Driscoll Solicitors recognise the difficulties that non-profit organisations can face in the legalities of starting up an initiative and now approaching their tenth year in Cork, have built up a wealth of knowledge to pass to those hoping to bring their social innovations and initiatives to life and really make a difference.
This will be one of the main focuses of the partnership with the first official event planned to be a on Codes of Corporate Governance – their importance, function and how they work. The event is due to take place in Cork’s River Lee and aims to begin an important discussion on the code of governance with examples and speakers from successful Irish charities and social initiatives present on the day to pass on their own advice. Speakers will include Eamon Timmins and Brian Higgins, CEO’s of Age Action Ireland and Pieta House respectively, undoubtedly two of Ireland’s biggest success stories in the charity sector.
Following on from this Fachtna O’ Driscoll hope to provide training and workshops in the areas of risk management, boardroom practices, the roles within organisations, checks and balances and many other areas which start up social initiatives will benefit from.
Overall the Cork Foundation and Fachtna O’ Driscoll anticipate that through lending expertise and training to the many charities and non-profits of Cork they can ensure an easier process for those focussed on making real social change in Cork and therefore help make the impact even greater.
