AFTERMATH READING SERIES: BITTERWEED

AFTERMATH READING SERIES: BITTERWEED

As the centenaries of the Irish War of Independence, and the Irish Civil War loom ahead, and as modern warfare rages this very minute elsewhere in the world, this series takes an unflinching look at the deep wounds inflicted during wartime, and how the resulting scars are borne by those sentenced to survival.

Bitterweed by Ailís Ní Riain hones in on a splintered family struggling to regain a sense of identity some twenty years after the devastation wreaked during the Bosnian War and the siege of Sarajevo in particular.
